Let’s replay the entire two weeks as though it were yesterday. Hmm.
31st October
Monday was my last day of work at the old building, which will be leased out at the start of the year. Towards the end of the day, after finishing with the weekly report, I set out to clear my belongings from the table and cabinet.
Goodness, it took 9 boxes to complete the lot! 2 years at the same place can really make you accumulate a lot of junk, huh?
There will be some fond memories of the place … sigh. Oh well.
1st November
Didn’t do much at all. Stayed over at Ai Ling’s place, bummed a little. Then went to her friend Loges’s place to celebrate Deepavali. Loges is quite a pretty lady, and I was simply amazed to find out that she used to be VERY wide. Now, she’s about just half of what she used to be, and the curves are all at the right places.
Stayed on till about 8 or so, then we made our way back to my place for we intended to leave home early.
Found out that my dad didn’t leave the Malaysian currency which I asked him to change for me at home. So I called him up, to realise that he wanted me to go INTO Malaysia on motorcycle to get the money from him.
Die!
And to top things off, he was due to leave JB for a game of golf at 9am, so he requested for me to meet him early in the morning.
That spelt the premature death of the dental appointment which was pre-planned earlier.
2nd November
Woke up at 4+am in the morning, and rode off to Malaysia with passports in tow at around 5.15am.
Upon reaching the Woodlands area, it started raining … heavily. Pissed me off.
No, what pissed me off even more was that motorcycles are supposed to use the BKE to enter JB. What gives with that?! Cheesed off lah! Took me 4 tries, all because the signage for the Entry to JB was like way in front.
Okay, so I wasn’t in a great mood, and the rain added to it.
Finally managed to enter JB at around 7.30am. Dad brought us to this ulu place to have Bak Kut Teh. Fantastic, I tell you! I wished I could bring myself there some other time, but then, I guess not. It’s too secluded already.
Rode around the coastal part of JB till about 9+am, then we made our way to Holiday Plaza. Won’t say what I bought there except for a packet of Watson’s tissues.
Took a crap at that hotel next to the Plaza as well. Nice!
We went back to Singapore after 11am. Almost ‘died’ at the checkpoint due to the CO produced by all the bikes there. I also missed the Malaysian checkpoint as well thanks to the fella who was sleeping. Basket. Made me walk all the way back again lor.
After JB, we went to Causeway Point to have dinner, when we chanced upon this Raffles Dental Centre which was offering scaling + polishing for $42 only! Mai tu liao! Too bad it was appointment based only. We made appointments for the following Wednesday.
Went back home exhausted. Bought food and all for our proposed picnic the next day.
3rd November
Happy mood was spoilt when I realised that mom actually invited herself as well as my sister’s family along for the picnic.
Ai Ling wasn’t too pleased with that, and this prompts me to say; it’s hard to please everyone, especially if they are all your loved ones.
Till today, I just cannot fathom the thought of both the women in my life quarrelling. To say that it would break my heart, would be an understatement.
Anyways, back to the picnic.
We made our way to Labrador Park for our picnic. Stayed there for quite a while, 6 hours? In the end, I think that it was actually quite nice to have my family there as well. For one, we could not possibly carry that much food there on my bike. I’m sure that she would agree with me on that point.
After the picnic, Ai Ling and I went to Tiong Bahru Plaza, to walk around for a bit. Saw this Guinness World Records 2004 edition going at $6, so I went ahead and bought it. Now at least I can proudly say that I own at least ONE copy of that. Heh.
4th November
Went to Sentosa in the afternoon, after enduring the rain which spoilt our plans to go in the morning.
All’s well that ends well with that.
All except the sad fact that Sentosa doesn’t allow motorcycles into the Island.
I mean, what gives? I was prepared to pay the $2 extra surcharge for that as it was. Sheesh! Seriously, not many places in Singapore takes care of motorcyclists like me.
With that said, I move on.
5th November
Saturday morning, I went back to CityCab to guide the movers with my belongings to the new building. Took a whole bloody half day, till 12.40pm.
Waited for Ai Ling to get done with her trim + colouring at Monsoon. That took another few hours, till 5.30pm.
Played a bit of basketball with Eugene, Chung Hao, Euphemia, and a few others whom I do not know.
Went for dinner somewhere near Queenstown (I think) then we went home. Had to get up early again the next day.
6th November
The day that I was waiting for. 2 things that I was eagerly anticipating. The first meet-up between me and the rest of the Barflies, as well as Paint ball!
Met 9 (of course) Mandrake, Tigerkiller, Duckhawk, Challenge Phoenix, Curious George, KengMeng, MakanGuru, Natsu (after that) and some others.
Paint ball was fun! I really had a wonderful workout. But of course, by the end of the session, my knee died on me and I started to limp slightly again.
Had my shower, then went back to Ai Ling’s place for her to take a bath. Found out from ah 9 that the guys had almost finished lunch, and were thinking of going to Cineleisure’s K-Box.
Ai Ling and I decided to have lunch at Adam Road Hawker Centre before meeting the rest. Wasn’t too bad. But the Rojak wasn’t up to par.
Met up with the Barflies, where I was forced to sing a song for them. Bah. Stayed on till about 6+pm, then we went back home first.
Went to Ai Ling’s place to catch DareDevil. Heh. Can’t blame me. I love movies based on Fictional or Marvel characters.
Went back home after the movie, dreading the next day.
7th November
To say that I hate the new building is an understatement to say the very least. There are so many ‘eyes’ around. And, now you don’t have only CityCab drivers going up to you, but Comfort and YTC cabbies as well! Ugh!! And the space is so darn small lah! Sian!
8th November
Work went on as per normal.
After work, we went to Jurong Kechil to see the doctor. But alas, the doctor was on leave! Wasted trip! Bah!
Rushed down after that to Sin Ming to watch Thomson CC play against TPY West CSC? What a wasted trip. Barely 5 minutes after coming, the match was adjourned thanks to some poor sportsmanship by the opposite team. Bah. Not since Minyi walked out of the court during Yuhua Cup had I seen such poor display of sportsmanship. Sigh.
Went back to Ai Ling’s place to watch CSI : Miami. After which, I went back home.
9th November
Yesterday was a busy … BUSY day. Not to mention screwed up. Some jerk-off at work took a whole stack of letters which I had generated from the system at about 8+am, and only returned it to the printer at 4+pm. There was also this cabby who refused to accept that the case that had happened to him earlier on during the day when someone threw a cigarette butt at him, and smashed his door, an accident.
If a tree suddenly uprooted and fell onto your car, well, that I might accept. But NO, an act of mischief does NOT qualify as an accident.
After work, Ai Ling and I went to Causeway Point for our dental appointment.
On our way there, Mother Nature decided to play a cruel prank on us, and started giving us many brilliant droplets of ‘life’. I was not amused. That’s 2 rainy days in 2 trips to the Woodlands area.
Result? We went to Raffles Dental Centre soaked to the core. A nice thing though, was that the dentist, Dr Wong, as well as her nurse-cum-cashier really made me feel at home. And not to mention, that was one heck of a GOOD scaling that she gave me.
10th November
Today, well, marked the start of a 2 day English writing course at British Council. It’s situated at Cecil Street, which also meant that I could not ride my bike in as I was not that familiar with the car parking system there.
I also noted that it costs something like $1.50 per half an hour of parking, so I decided to screw that part till I realised that Market Street’s car park complex was just 2 streets away. Hooray! Going to ride tomorrow!
The teacher, Greg, strikes me as nothing short of amazing. Firstly, he is a Singaporean PR.
There is nothing amazing about that.
The amazing thing is that he is originally from California, and he teaches perfect Queen’s English! No such thing as Recognize, just Recognise. How cool is that?
And, his way of English is the kind of fluent, yet without accent, kind of English. That’s just class.
Alright … how’s that for a major update? Took me the whole of 2 hours blogging this in-between my Diablo 2 game.
Well, that ends my update for the moment. Stay tuned.
9 November, 2005
I know, I know. I have not been blogging lately, as always. Heh. I would love to blog about the past week and all, but I guess that age is catching up with me. It’s almost 1am anyways … so I guess I’ll leave the blogging for another day. I’ll try to blog tomorrow, hope that it will be possible.
