Time really flies when you’re older.
When I was a tad bit younger, my cousin Trina told me, “Alex, Alex. Just wait till you turn 25. After that, you won’t even bother celebrating your birthday, because it’s going to fly pass you so fast.”
Not that it burnt me or anything, because I don’t ever celebrate my birthday. But I mean, it’s not as though I detest my birthday. Just like some girls who say that flowers are a waste of time, so you really think that they hate flowers? Deep down in their hearts, definitely they will love flowers. It’s the same for me. I don’t celebrate it. But if others were to celebrate it for me, I’ll be grinning from ear to ear, not to mention, I’ll be blushing like a Chimpanzee eating sambal.
I think, even when I hit the big 50 (if I do get to live that long) I would still enjoy celebrating my birthday should my family or friends choose to do so.
All these years, seldom do I get birthday presents from family or friends. Some don’t even know my birthday, which is fine by me. Heck, presents are like birthdays. I don’t have to get them from anyone. But getting one would bring a smile to my face.
*disclaimer; I am not requesting for any gifts on my birthday. It’s just my thinking*
The past few days went by in a sneeze.
Had a wine appreciation session organised by my company on Friday. Hated red wine. Still do. White wine was slightly easier on my throat, but I guess I’d still pass should I have a choice.
Saturday was da bomb! I went for a Carl’s Jr lunch with my dear at Suntec in the afternoon. After which, we went to meet some of the barflies for a bowling session at marina Square. Saw Emily with Derek on my way there. At the bowling Centre, I was reminded by SK’s friend that she was my ex classmate in secondary school.
Now that… prompted me to say FUCK! in my mind. How could I forget a friend? Easy. Her name in Secondary school was Chinese. I forget Chinese names like I forget my liquor. Secondly, we were in the same class for 1 year only. Thirdly, she wasn’t a really prominent figure then. So, there. Still, I have got to dig up my old year book and search for her name.
Had a moderate game only, but was pretty badly affected by the horrible lanes, as KM will attest to. Had a game high of 166, 3 pins shy of my high of 169 for this year.
After the game, I met up with uG, Don and Ah Beng. Walked for a while, then we went to town to meet up with Xuemin, Edward, rG and Joshua. Went off after a while, to Bedok.
Played ball with my dear’s cousins till 11+. Had a bit of a tussle with this frigging long bean of a China player. Tall and skinny, just the way I like ‘em. Heh. I tied with him foul for foul, but he won me for shots, as I was feeling fatigued because of the bowling session earlier on (it still hurts lots today).
Went back home feeling like a Baboon with a red arse.
Sunday came by quickly.
Bathed my dear Phantom, waxed her, polished her. She’s smiling now. Heh. Treated my dear after that to Pizza Hut. $50.
Took a nice long shower, then we proceeded to the Esplanade to catch the last session of “A Twist of Fate”. Rating : 5/5
The jokes were corny, the singing was poor melody, and the atmosphere that the crew gave us, Local. I would recommend this to all, except for the fact that it was the last day. Oh well, you can always wait till 8 years later (first time it came out, 1997). Marvellous.
One point that I would like to highlight is that Singapore roads are getting more and more dangerous for us bike owners. While I believe that more motorcyclists are being more road worthy, the same cannot go for motorists who drive. Nuff said.
Okay, time to sleep. Lunch time is always for sleeping.
