Y’know something?
I hate Chinese New Year. I hate all the traditions that come with it. The only things that I love about Chinese New Year are the Ang Baos and the socialising. Other than that, it sucks shit.
First off. I didn’t know that you had to go to your gf’s mom’s house before going to your gf’s grandma’s house, as a proper form of respect. I didn’t know that it was a custom to offer gifts to the gf’s parents before Chinese New Year. I didn’t know that it mattered to whose house you had to go first, as a form of respect.
In fact, I can, without a doubt, say that I am pretty ignorant of all this shit. Pardon my ignorance.
That being said, I shall now rest my case and go jack off or something. I’m prett annoed by the way certain things have turned out tonight, and m headache and cough is getting fucking bad, but nobody cares about it. Nobody cares about me. But then again, who gives a fuck about me?
Let’s picture a scenario.
I clean the windows in my room. Being short and all, I have short arms, so I have to sit on the ledge to clean the furthest part of the window.
Then!
I sorta lose my balance, plunging me 14 stories down to my imminent death. News of my death reaches the eyes and ears of my friends via the news.
Now, after that…….. who will come to my wake?
Will you?

Happy Chinese New Year folks! Gong Xi Fa Chai!

(all of which I presume will not do… l0l)

It’s been a really hectic few weeks for me thus far.

Reason?

Chinese New Year!!!!

Because of this festive celebration, we Chinese have to spend wads of money buying supplies, fulfilling Chinese beliefs, doing spring cleaning and hanging up decorations.

In addition to that, we also have to buy new clothes, new furniture, new electrical appliances…. No, I’m joking on the last two.

Helped my dear with a little bit of spring cleaning of her house on Friday night, till 3+am. Took a nap, then left for my place at about 8.30am, as I was waiting for the Harvey Norman fellas to bring my new 29” Panasonic TV over, as I opted for the 10am to 3pm slot. Bloody hell, they came at what time? 3.50pm! But, nevermind lah. In the process, I managed to start on my house cleaning (which is still not done) and catch some much needed rest.

Realised that the set-up box was not working (I knew it!) and that my brand new TV was having the same problems as the Thomson TV before that, and the Philips before the Thomson. NABEI! Wasted money… but then, the 2 other TVs were malfunctioning anyway.

After that, we went to her Granny’s house where I thought that I would be playing basketball with her cousins, but ended up helping to carry drinks. Should have left my bag at home… extra baggage. Bah.

Went home and slept pretty early, in view of the tiring day ahead.

Went to Plaza Singapura the next day(Sunday) with my dear for 2 purposes. 1, to finally get rid of the bloody starhub set-up box, and get myself some digital cable. Got myself 2 boxes, BUT 1 BLOODY BOX WAS SPOILT! (Will talk about it again later) and 2, to see if there were any nice and cheap home theatre systems.

Realised there and then, that there was no way that we could transport all that on my bike. So we made our way home. So, we went back home to do some more house- cleaning, set up the digital cable boxes and do a little bit of swimming.

Went home and did the swimming part and the setting up of the SCV boxes, to find out that one was spoilt (to be continued), but not the house cleaning.

Oh, I did manage to wash my bike after that, but immediately after washing and parking my bike, Mother Nature had to rain on me. BAH!

SCV TV Set-up box
The reason why this has it’s own slot is because I am totally peeved with the service of Starhub.

The history

Went we first subscribed to cable TV, we were all happy, ecstatic even. The technicians installed the cable point, and then the SVC guy came after that with the box and installed it for us.

I can remember that day fondly (or not so fondly). After installation, the fella pressed a channel to test the connection. The connection was alright, but there was this loud ‘TAK’ sound which caught my attention, as it didn’t seem right. And every time we changed a channel, along with the ‘TAK’ sound, the TV would be a little disrupted.

If I knew then, that this was not normal, I would have asked for a replacement right away, but the SCV guy who came to install the box told me that the sound and the disruption was normal, so I took his word for it.

It all came to light after a few months, when I went over to my friend’s place to watch some cable tv, and his was FLAWLESS!

Still, the lazy side of me thought that we could live with it.

All went well for a few year, living with the ‘TAK’ sound and all… until my Philips died on me.

Apparently, the disruption went from bad to worse, to the point that all channels had disruptions 24/7. Even without changing the channels, the TV looked like it had obtained a permanent seizure. It was very irritating, to say the least.

After 1 month of watching telly with that (my mom lah, not me, I bth long ago le), THE TV finally died.

So, we brought in our brand new Thomson TV, which was not used that often, thus it was a little crappy in the sense that we had to switch on and warm it up first before it could start. Still, the disruptions went on.

So, as this Chinese New Year is coming, I decided to go get a new TV, resulting in $929 flying away from us.

Still, the bloody set could not work, so I decided to go get the new digital cable.

I went to the 2nd level at Starhub Customer Care Centre, Plaza Singapura. After queuing for 5 minutes, I was told to head down to the front counter. So, I made my way to the ground level to get a queue number.

After queuing there for a short while, I was told to head down to B2…. Wtf?! A little frustrated, I made my way down yet again, to wait for my turn like any other c0w.

After going through with everything, getting the boxes and all, we went to Carrefour to shop for a bit before coming home, as I was thinking that we should come together with my mother, as there was potentially lots of bags to carry, and she had her car.

So, we went back home and installed the box, only for me to incur more frustration. One of the sets could not work!!

*irritated*

Ok, I think I won’t want to go on any further, as I am working now, and this would only make me rethink about the unhappy past.

But…………………………….

I am happy that I am able to watch cable TV in my room now… WHEEEEEEEEE ~

As the hours go on, I find myself waning. Work has become more of a chore at CityCab, instead of the joy and pleasure that it brought me months ago.

With Clement offering me a job as a QA Inspector (read: higher pay better benefits) today, I’m thinking contemplating quitting before I get my bonus. Last year’s bonus was good, I received an above average bonus of 3.5 months. But after last year’s ‘collapse’ of the Industry what with the 3 new companies popping out and giving all the rest of the companies a hard time, the bonus that we’re going to get is… give or take a month.

Anyway, with my resignation, I guess, some people will be happier. At least my share of the bonus can be split amongst the rest of my colleagues… yuh right. As if the Company will do that.

Watched 9 Songs, the other day, and boy oh boy was it an eye-opener for me. I won’t say much about the movie except for that. For those of you who have watched it, you know what I mean…

And since we’re on the topic of movies, here’s a picture of my all time favourite.

Yes, it’s been 6 years+ since the Premiere of The Matrix, and I still get kicks out of watching it.

Keanu Reeves, though I admit may be the ang moh version of Leon Lai, nevertheless made the show an immense hit. So much so that I watched it over 9 times (yes, I am mad) but hey, at least it’s better than watching Titanic 9 times, eh? Heh.

Carrie-Ann Moss, who played Trinity, is a real bombshell with her killer bod and her deadly stare. *licks his lips in glee* and while not many of you would agree…. WHO CARES? Hehe. Her almost nude scene in Red Planet totally knocked my socks off that time.

At times (yes, I am a geek at heart) I wished I was Neo. In Superman form, of course. I do not wish to be plugged in like a thumbdrive and eat ‘oats’ every single day of my life. Yeesh!

Alright… that’s all from me tonight. Tomorrow, basketball day!
Happy New Year to one and all!

For me… I am left thinking once more… what’s so happy about the new year? More financial constraints, more worries, more troubles, more more more….

Headache, thinking about all this crap. That’s why I asked Donny, what’s so happy about it?

Anyways, I spent the most bit of the New Year helping out my dear with the painting of her ‘new’ room. That ‘new’ bit being ‘new’ because she’s swapping rooms. Did some painting (tired, sakit, tolong!) for her room. Imagine having to jaga a 5l can of paint on the bike, which has already been overburdened by our weight. Ha!

Nonetheless, it was pretty fun doing it. Tiring, but fun.

The DIY shop at Ikea has this wicked machine that lets you choose your paint colour, then it’ll mix it up for you. Lovely invention I tell ya. It’s like a bakery shop. Fresh paint! Heh.

Did anyone notice the congestion in the match schedule for EPL this Christmas period? It’s crazy! I just managed to catch Newcastle play Middlesbrough and I was super disappointed to see it 2-1 to the visitors. Thank goodness, moments after watching, Lee Clark scored a lovely left-footed cracker with the last kick of the game. *PHEW* Breathe easy, Newcastle fans. Sack Souness, keep all the players, and breathe easy.

Went to Labrador Park for a picnic with my gf this morning. For all the time spent preparing all the food for the picnic, I ended up not eating alot. I think I was too tired, honestly, but maybe, as what she said, it could be because I prepared the food and all, and got sick of it. Maybe lor.

Oh yuh! Forgot to add in something. I just received my pay increment. With a merit of 1% more than normal, and I got…. *drumroll* LESS THAN $50! NBCCB! Fucking pissed lah. Damn irritated by all that shit. It’s time to move on… for real this time round. *cheesed off*

Alright. Time to call it a day. There goes the holidays.
