July 2007

We just had our second session of MPC, being the first home session at William and Shannen (The presenting couple)’s house. Their ‘humble’ house is NOT BAD AT ALL! Haha… pretty modest of them.

Bryan and Jane could not make it due to unknown reasons, but William and Shannen were saying that they would try to arrange a make-up lesson for them. So good of them, to make time for a couple who didn’t turn up, so that they could get their certificates.

Today we learnt more on communication; the three types of communication, natural family planning (more on that in the next session I believe), the Church’s beliefs in planning for the family, what takes priority in life, and a few more.

Managed to chat more with the rest of the guys, namely Kelvin, Eugene, Jeremy and Gregory.

Interesting stuff about them, but I shall not say more, as one of the house rules states that we cannot diverge out any secrets. Everything stays between our group.

After that, we snoozed over at Ai Ling’s place before heading over to Church. We managed to even sign up for the Alpha Course after mass. It’s about renewing your faith (for people like me) and learning more about the faith (for Ai Ling). Ai Ling’s enthu attitude is really encouraging me to renew my Catholic faith, and for that, I’m grateful.

Love you, darling!

Just read from a fellow blogger that a girl in the Phillipines killed herself over a fake ending of Harry Potter’s latest book.

Girl kills herself over a book ending

Another 6 days more, and I will finally turn my back on CDGE, and I wonder if my path will cross theirs in future.

The path that I have chosen thus far, will lead me back to the accident claims side, the start of which was the first job that I had taken after I ORDed from the Army.

Well, hopefully, it’ll be good for me.

Michael Owen scored his first Newcastle goal in 19 months as Sam Allardyce’s reign began with a victory at Hartlepool.

The England hitman, who last found the net for his club at West Ham on December 17, 2005, converted James Troisi’s 58th-minute cross after Shola Ameobi – who later claimed a second – had cancelled out James Brown’s opener in a whirlwind start to the second half.

Owen’s strike and a combative debut from Joey Barton were the most significant features of a highly-competitive encounter watched by a crowd of 6,030 at Victoria Park.

Allardyce, however, may have to explain the concept of a ‘friendly’ game to Barton, who snapped into tackles and harried opponents as if his life depended on it in a thoroughly entertaining firsthalf during which Hartlepool were often at full-stretch, but rarely undone.

The £5.8million signing’s central midfield partnership with Nicky Butt provided a fulcrum for their side, and with Obafemi Martins and Kieron Dyer buzzing around teenage target man Andy Carroll, only the efforts of debutants Arran Lee-Barratt and Godwin Antwi kept the Barclays Premier League side at bay.

Former Coventry keeper Lee-Barrett produced a fine double save to deny Carroll and then Barton on 38 minutes after earlier denying Martins one-on-one. Magpies new boy David Rozehnal turned in a solid 45 minutes at the back, but the fireworks were to come in the second half.

Owen entered the fray, along with Ameobi, at the break as both managers made changes, and he needed just seconds to test replacement keeper Jan Budtz, who managed to tip his lob away after Nolberto Solano had picked out his run.

But the hosts went ahead on 49 minutes when full-back Matty Robson picked out new arrival Brown at the far post and he controlled with his chest before smashing home a shot off the inside of the far post.

The lead lasted just seven minutes when Ameobi exchanged passes with Dyer before rounding Budtz and sliding the ball into the empty net, and Owen cashed in on excellent play by Dyer and Troisi to make it 2-1 from close range two minutes later.

Ameobi claimed his second 17 minutes from time when Budtz fumbled his shot into the net to complete a good night’s work for the Barclays Premier League side.

Ahhh… a good start from Big Sam’s ‘new’ side. Pretty pleased with that. Didn’t manage to watch it, but well, though it’s not a EPL team, still, it’s a start.

An auspicious day, was it not? My favourite number, times 3!

However, it was not to be. I had barely started playing basketball when my back suddenly went. Excruciating pain, it was. And it got from bad to worse as the time went by. By night time, I could not longer bear it, and took some painkillers.

This afternoon, it had not recovered one bit, so my dear fetched me to Tan Tock Seng. Initial diagnosis by the doctor is that I had back muscle spasms. Gave me a jab, and I went to the Observation room for a few hours while my dear waited patiently for me. Thanks dear!! *muackz*

Muscle spasms…. the one that ended the careers of many, including one of my favourite, Larry Bird. Damnit… is that it for me? I hope not. But for now, I’ve gotten 3 days MC so I shall rest at home….. sigh.
