September 2009

I watched Fame yesterday, with my darling… and must say that the movie was very nice! If you’re a Moulin Rouge / Mamma Mia fan, you should definitely catch it.

During the movie however, I had a thought.

Have you ever wondered… what you would do if;

  • You were a singer, and you lost your voice?
  • You were a dancer, and you lost the use of your legs?
  • If you were a music teacher, and you lost your sense of hearing?
  • If you were a movie buff, and you lost your sense of sight?
  • If you were a chef, and you lost your sense of taste?
  • If you were a coffee gourmet, and you lost your sense of smell?
  • If you were a general worker, and you lost the use of your arms?

So many what ifs, and I’m not done yet. However, I can’t just go on and on, rambling nothings like they were yesterday.

Anyways, it’s just a thought. Think about it.

Newcastle’s win against Plymouth made it 5 home wins for my team, equalling the record set last season. Was it that bad last season? Don’t remind me.

Goals from Steven Taylor, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll secured a 3-1 victory against a team we last faced in the 91-92 season.

That, and a 5-1 thrashing from West Brom(?!?) against Middlesborough brought us up to 2nd place. However, Danny Simpson, the young defender loaned to us from Manchester United, came off injured in the 30th minute. We are seriously lacking in numbers at the moment, and if the next league game produces yet another injury, I think we’ll be screwed.

Howay the lads!!!

My birthday treat from dear wasa pair of tickets to see the last show of JUMP!, a comedy-cum-martial arts presentation from a group of South Koreans. From the programme booklet which I purchased at $6 (painfully expensive initially but now worth so much more), it seemed that we would be in for a laugh… and I sure as heck wasn’t disappointed by it!

Laugh I sure did… and to the point that beads of perspiration replaced the cold air that my skin felt. Amazing techniques, these guys sure could perform!

At the end of the show, dear went to queue up to get the programme booklet autographed.. by all 9 cast members!

I’ll try to post some photos up tonight. Till then. :)

I remember this day, 7 years ago. Though I’m not American, I feel that this sort of thing doesn’t affect just the Americans.

One way or another, it has definitely had a real impact on our lives.

I remember watching CNN that night, in shock and in horror, the Twin Towers collapsing one after the other, as though it was in a movie. I really can’t possibly fathom the thoughts of those that were there, those that wished that someone they loved had not been there, those that lost their lives trying to save the hundreds and thousands of people, those that were not supposed to be there that fateful day but had to do so to cover someone’s shift… the list goes on.

My thoughts, prayers and tears go out to these people.
